Stroke Care
A stroke can have devastating effects on the life of the patient, often with notable negative effects on verbal skills, vision, speech, and movement. Such a loss of motor skills will never be minor, but there are things that can be done to get you back to a near-normal state of functioning and to help prevent further strokes and complications. Our in-home care professionals, registered nurses, and the patient’s medical team will work together to get back motor functions and make life after a stroke as easy as possible.

A plan of care is created for patients who use the services of Sensitive Homecare Agency in order to best fit their specific needs. The range of affected areas and severity can be great when it comes to a stroke, but we have skilled registered nurses and caregivers who can help establish and carry out treatment and recovery plans to best manage you or your loved one’s symptoms and complications.

A typical plan may include:

-
Assisting with walking and transferring (i.e., moving from bed to chair, chair to toilet)
-
Helping with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and ambulation
-
Educating you or your loved ones of the symptoms that require immediate medical attention (i.e blurred vision, inability to move a limb, or difficulty speaking)
-
Maintaining a customized exercise program, designed either by a professional doctor or physical therapist to tackle any one-sided weakness and help regain flexibility while preventing contractures
-
Reinforcing strategies for verbal and non-verbal communication
